About Bliss Events

We can’t wait to get to know you, but in the meantime, meet the amazing personalities that make up the Bliss Events team.

The Bliss Team

Rachel Welland :: Owner + Coordinator

“Make a list of what you need, leave it empty. Except for #1, write ‘love’. Gamble everything.”  – Ben Lee

What began as a hobby organizing her 4th grade pajama party, has transformed into a passionate career of design and leadership in San Diego’s wedding and event coordination industry. Rachel’s stunning and relevant work with a diverse clientele has made her one of the most sought-after wedding artists in the county. Anyone who meets Rachel knows that her limitless energy, creativity, and mastery of time management are the icing on the cake of her flawless event designs.

Rachel’s Bachelor of Fine Arts in Interior Design adds a whole new dimension to her event design process, exceeding her clients’ visions with unique style and creativity. Rachel has also gained a valuable behind-the-scenes perspective of the industry while working at the prestigious L’Auberge Del Mar Resort and Spa.

When Rachel has a [rare!] free Saturday, she can be spotted with her family, enjoying beautiful San Diego at a tasty brunch, the beach, or a museum. One thing, out of so many, that her husband loves most about her, is the value she places on family. Rachel is fully committed to the people she loves and the memorable moments she is creating at Bliss Events.

Proud moments:

  • Holds a certificate from the UCSD Special Events and Meeting Management Program
  • Named “Innovator Under 30” and “Queen of Matrimony” by 944 Magazine San Diego
  • Awarded “Woman-Owned Small Business of the Year 2010” by SBA of San Diego

Sweet Somethings:

“Something that gets me excited is baking with my children… then indulging in the baked goods, of course!”

“When meeting someone for the first time, I want them to walk away knowing that I am friendly, honest, and have my ducks in a row.”

“My favorite hashtag is #americasfinestcity – I am in love with San Diego and it’s easy to find beautiful photos to post of my gorgeous city!”

Korie (Norton) Younger :: Coordinator

“Shoot for the moon and at the very least, you’ll wind up amongst the stars.”

Korie unknowingly started her event planning career while organizing birthday parties as a child. Lucky for her young friends, she didn’t start charging for her standout services until her college job in the events department at Sea World. Korie then joined Westfield Malls where she planned a wide variety of events and has since found her passion for organizing social celebrations, one-of-a-kind weddings, and corporate gatherings.

Korie has always put 100% of her positive and energetic self into her work, and it speaks for itself. She treats each wedding like it’s her own, making her clients feel comfortable, trusted, and heard every step of the way. Korie loves traditions, but also loves finding original ways to showcase her clients’ personalities.

When it comes to enjoying her happy place outside of the wedding world, Korie likes taking her kids and two dogs to the beach.  Seeing them smile and play, along with the peace of the ocean, brings her endless happiness.

Korie feels proud to work alongside an amazing group of creative professionals who all care about their clients; from the first meeting, to “I do”, and every life adventure that follows.

Sweet Somethings:

“I have two golden retrievers, Toby and Buddy. They are so full of life and bring unconditional happiness and love to our family.”

“I still tear up at the father-daughter dance. I just imagine my daughter and husband sharing in this emotional and proud moment together.”

“Katy Perry’s, ‘Roar’, gives me that extra edge and energy when preparing for a big event.”

Ashley Babiarz :: Coordinator

“Failing to prepare is preparing to fail.” – John Wooden

For Ashley, discovering event planning was like an artist finding her medium. Everything about it felt right! Her creativity and organizational skills took her from planning high school spirit days and conferences, to Social Chair and President of her sorority at UCLA. Ashley later secured a professional role in Operations, handling budgets, negotiating contracts, and engaging with a variety of clients. After working with Bliss Events to plan her own wedding in 2010, she couldn’t resist joining the team herself.

Ashley doubles as the master of logistics and loves fitting all of the event details together like an elaborate puzzle. One of her favorite moments of the coordination process is meeting a couple for the first time and witnessing their giddy-in-love joy. Ashley feels honored to organize a day where her clients’ guests get to experience the entirety of their love.

When Ashley isn’t working her wedding magic, she is enjoying breakfast burritos and coffee, hanging at the beach with her husband and sons, and barbequing at home with family and friends. The love Ashley’s family has for her, like a great event, is the culmination of many little things that add up to something extraordinary.

Sweet Somethings:

“One word of advice to a bride on her wedding day…EAT!”

“I am beach girl at heart, but also have farm land in North Dakota.”

“One of the best feelings in the world is a clean house and no laundry!”

Leia Brune :: Coordinator

“If you can dream it, you can do it!” -Walt Disney

Leia’s long list of diverse event planning experience is as impressive as it is exciting, and she is thrilled to be living her dream of coordinating weddings and events in Sunny San Diego! Leia’s first jobs after college were at a theatre and a TV station, where she managed logistics, membership, and customer service. Time management and budgeting quickly became part of her skill set and she was able to put those to use as she volunteered with various arts organizations helping plan galas and other fundraising events.

Through her involvement in arts organizations, she made a connection which led her to become Managing Partner of a top Wedding Coordination company in Florida. She brings the many skills she honed during this job to her clients at Bliss Events: creativity, budget management, and customer service to name a few. Her favorite thing about wedding planning is getting to know a couple through the planning process and helping to incorporate unique elements into their wedding that represent their relationship. She “gets lost in the details” and loves poring over documents to ensure accuracy and efficiency. Her motto: triple check everything!

In her spare time she enjoys live theatre, opera, and symphony. She keeps active by attending barre, Pilates, and TRX classes, as well as paddle boarding, hiking, and running. She reads as much as possible and finishes about 2 books per week.

Sweet Somethings:

“I will never turn down an opportunity for chocolate. Any type, any flavor. Always say yes!”

“Every summer as a child, I went on 1-2 month long trips with my grandmother. This early exposure instilled a lifelong obsession with travel, which I thoroughly enjoy.”

“I always have a vase of fresh flowers in my house. A fresh floral bouquet can brighten any room!”

Paige Jensen :: Coordinator

“Live Each Moment. Laugh Often. Love Beyond Words.”

Paige leaves every new client meeting on a grateful high thinking, “I love people, I love planning, and I love that I get to live out my passion everyday”. She has found a harmonic balance where organization, efficiency, and a touch of fun are always at the top of her priority lists.

Paige has a wide range of experience leading up to her recognized work at Bliss Events, including jobs in the Event Operations Department for NBC at the Greece Summer Olympics, and event planning at the San Diego Hall of Champions. Paige has gained confidence through her experience and is known for tactfully getting the job done in all situations. She is also known for adding special signature elements to her clients’ timelines to really enhance the celebration (you’ll have to connect with Paige to find out her secret sauce!).

Paige is a native Texan, played professional volleyball around the world, and now enjoys her San Diego lifestyle of double-stroller beach runs with the kids, afternoon playdates, and sushi nights with her husband.  She has a contagious energy that lights up her family, friends, and clients who, by no surprise, always truly enjoy working with her.

Sweet Somethings

“At your wedding, take a moment with your new spouse and step away from the party to soak it all in from afar.”

“Skydiving in Switzerland during my post-college European backpacking trek is one of my favorite memories.”

“I love to dance and would have to say that ‘Work Hard, Play Hard’ or ‘DJ Got Us Falling In Love’ is my kind of music.”

Your wedding day is just one day.
One day to bring everyone you love into a single space.
One day to bring your unique personalities and vision to life through details and experiences.
One day to feel wholeheartedly overwhelmed with love.
One day to throw your hands in the air and shout from the rooftops how much you love your partner.
One day where you can have your cake, and eat it too.
One day that is the start to many more beautiful days.
Your wedding day is your day.
We are designers and doers, obsessed with details.
We possess the flexibility of a mom, the congeniality of a friend, and the curiosity of a daughter.
We believe only in genuine relationships, in work and in life.
We make plans, to make a plan.
We constantly seek inspiration in everything from a sunset to a handwritten note.
We treat our clients and vendors like our friends, and our friends like family.
We don’t think that Stress should be invited to your wedding.
We think that having too much fun should be on everyone’s to-do list.
We believe that you deserve a one-of-a-kind, blissful celebration.
